What’s On at Green Dragon

From 25th March

Our ewes will be giving birth to their lambs at anytime – you may get lucky and see one being born!

DSC_6511Our Rare Breed ewes are already starting to give birth  here at Green Dragon!  We have seven different breeds of sheep so our new lambs will be all shapes and sizes!

They’ll play an important part in our Spring Babies Easter Holiday Event when we’ll have a full programme of encounters so visitors can get up close to the animals!

April 1st to 17th

Come and meet our Spring babies and get hands-on!

20170221_153807.jpg v2There’ll be a full programme of animal encounters with lots of new babies to get close to, such as our Oxford Sandy & Black piglets and our Pygmy goat kids!

By the Easter holidays our lambing season will be well under way and there’ll be plenty of new born lambs to bottle feed!

For more details, please go to Spring Babies.

Saturday 20th May

A day of demonstrations and exhibitions at sheep-shearing time!

DSC_8093Shearing will take place during the end of May when we will be shearing our six rare breed rams – among them, Jupiter the Jacob and Boris the Badger-faced! The different breeds mean the fleeces vary considerably and have different uses.

We’ll be joined by local felt-makers from the International Felt-Makers Association who will demonstrate the magical process of turning wool fibre into woollen cloth using some of the wool from the breeds of sheep that you see at Green Dragon.  Through their demonstrations and exhibition, they’ll show the amazing diversity of felt today, from fine art pictures to fine lace like scarves and functional 3D items that can be both decorative and sculptural. Programme times to follow.
