Revised Opening Hours

The initial Government lockdown had a big negative financial impact on us, which means the rest of 2020 and maybe the start of 2021 is very uncertain for the business. For the survival of our animals, our staff and the business as a whole, we have had to make the decision to close on some weekdays during the autumn and winter months. Please see the Opening Times here.

Soft Play News

We are pleased to announce that our SOFT PLAY area will be open from Thursday 20th August!

You can choose from a number of 30 minute time slots online when booking your Farm visit!

There will of course be a number of changes and rules…

🟣 All the balls have been removed from the ball pools
👧 Some of the small soft items in the under 5 area have been removed
🧼 Adults and children will be required to sanitise their hands when entering the seating area and again when entering and exiting the soft play area
👩‍👦 Social distancing of course will be required by all, including children and parents, and guardians must police this with their little ones outside and inside the soft play as much as possible
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family groups or bubbles can hang out together but making new friends in soft play areas will be tricky, so make sure your little ones are on the move all the time rather than spending prolonged periods of time in one area of the soft play area
🪑 The soft play seating will be sectioned off from the main cafe and this will be designated for all bookings for the soft play only
🚪 Entry to the soft play area will be via the first exit doors by the go-karts only and exit as well
🕒 You must be prompt for your session as session times will not be extended
🗑 We ask you to clear all your tables after use including rubbish
☕️ You will be able to purchase snacks and drinks from the cafe through the designated entry and exit points and follow the one way system
🧦 Socks must be worn at all times
🧥 Long sleeves must be worn by all children at all times
🤢 If any child is sick or has an accident the area will be vacated and the session will end and may not be rescheduled
⚠️ If you already booked your entry tickets before the Soft Play option was added, drop us a message and we’ll book you in! Subject to availability.

More info on the website soon! 🥳

Here’s a few highlights to expect and a couple of helpful reminders to help make the most of your day ⬇️

🎟 PRE-BOOK your tickets online! We’re running at reduced capacity so may have to turn you away if you haven’t prebooked ➡️
Arrive on time to make the most of your stay. Visits are 10am-1.30pm or 2pm-5.30pm. Those ‘spare’ 30mins are vital for us to have a good clean and tidy before the afternoon visitors arrive.
😷 Remember your face coverings, you’ll need to wear them in all indoor and enclosed areas.
🧴 Everything is super clean as usual, especially thanks to the recent vaporising disinfectant 🙌 ▶️

💦 NEW Splash Pool – don’t forget your towel! Please be patient and social distance when queuing.
🦉 NEW Bird Display – have you booked your seat? The birds can’t wait to show you their skills. Please be seated 5/10mins before the scheduled start time and face coverings to be worn please.

🍔 SAVE with Eat Out to Help Out – enjoy some delicious food from Bandit Street Food outside the Playbarn with a tasty discount.
☕️ Coffee and cake etc from the Playbarn Cafe. Please remember your face covering when ordering and if sitting inside at the socially distanced tables.

☀️ It’s Britain, prepare for all weathers! Umbrella, sun tent, sun cream, hat, wellies, waterproofs etc! You can always leave them in your car and pop back if needed.

🙌 Outdoor play – outside playgrounds, bouncy pillow, go-karts and ride-ons all open! In extreme weather the bouncy pillow may have to close for your safety.
🐚 Sandpits are open – bring your own buckets & spades (we’ve removed ours for hygiene reasons)
🧴 Just remember to clean kiddies’ hands before and after, limit the number using at once and respect social distancing where possible.
💦 NEW Splash Pool!

🐐 Animal Barn – goats and kids, sheep and more. Face covering to be worn please.
🦎 Pets Corner – snakes, lizards, small mammals, creepy crawlies, axolotl and much more. Face covering to be worn please.

🌼 & 44 acres of fresh air!
🦉 NEW Bird Display – seats are very limited so be sure to pre-book for just £1 each.

🍰 Why not enjoy a breakfast buttie at 10/11am or a 3pm arvo cake and coffee when there is likely to be less of a queue.
🍎 Picnics in the designated areas are invited, you can even bring a small tent and set yourself a little camp for the duration of your visit! 🗑 Put your rubbish in the bin or take it home though please.
🩹 Bring some basic First Aid supplies.
🚸 Roads should mostly be open again now 🙌 but do check your route just in case!
💳 Please bring contactless and card payment methods (excl. Amex) as we’ve currently gone cashless.
🛒 Pop into the Gift Shop midway through your visit rather than leaving it to the end.

Sorry, but please remember…
✖️ The soft play remains closed right now, hopefully we’ll be able to open again soon – watch this space
✖️ The Messy Play Barn is closed too
✖️ Encounter-wise there’s only the prebooked Bird Display taking place right now, but there’s plenty of up-close animal contact otherwise 🐴 More displays may come very soon…

We’re excited to still have so much to show and offer you, and we’re doing it all with your safety in mind. We still need your cooperation though …
🧼 Wash & sanitise your hands at every opportunity
⬆️ Follow the one-way routes
😷 Wear face coverings indoors
🚸 Read all the important signage
👂 Respect and listen to our friendly trained staff
… so let’s all work together to have a safe and fun time!

Thank you,
The Green Dragon Family 💚

New Face Covering Guidance

We have been asking visitors to wear a face covering in the Gift Shop and in the Barn Café, and have also encouraged their wear in the other indoor areas.

Due to the new updated government guidance, we now must also insist you wear one in Pets Corner, the Animal Barn, Wildlife Hub, handwashing station and communal toilets.

You are not required to wear one when outside, but do remember to keep your distance from other families and maintain good hand hygiene. If you wish to wear a face covering at all times, please do so if you feel more comfortable.

Children under 11 years old, anyone suffering from conditions that make it difficult to breathe, or those with disabilities where face coverings would cause distress, are not required to wear one.

We have a limited number of reusable face coverings and disposable masks for purchase from the Gift Shop should you forget yours.

Please note that late arrivals will need to enter through the Gift Shop, and at the end of your visit all visitors are asked to exit through the Gift Shop so we can count you out safely, so please make sure you are wearing your face covering at these times.

Please head to the Government website for more information on the latest guidance.

We appreciate you helping us to maintain a safe environment here at Green Dragon 💚

Face Covering Guidance

😷 As you will know, it is now mandatory to wear a face covering in shops. Therefore, following government rules, we’re asking our visitors to wear a face covering when entering our Gift Shop and Playbarn Café.

This mostly affects you if you arrive as a late arrival for your session time as you will enter the Farm via the Gift Shop, and at the end of your session you will exit through the Gift Shop, therefore at these times you must wear a face covering if you are over the age of 11yrs old.

We are going to take this a step further and also encourage you to wear one in the indoor areas, i.e. Pets Corner, the handwashing station and Animal Barn, as we feel this will bring more confidence amongst our visitors and staff alike.

There are some exceptions as outlined in the government guidelines:
• Children under the age of 11
• Not being able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
• If putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress
• If you are travelling with or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading to communicate
• To avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others
• To avoid injury, or to escape a risk of harm, and you do not have a face covering with you
• To eat or drink if reasonably necessary
• To take medication

There are also scenarios when you are permitted to remove a face covering when asked:
• If asked to do so by shop staff for identification (we may need to for Annual Pass identification)
• If speaking with people who rely on lip reading, facial expressions and clear sound. Some may ask you, either verbally or in writing, to remove a covering to help with communication
• Some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering. This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign

Please head to the Government website for more information on the latest guidance.

We have limited disposable face masks available which can be purchased in the Gift Shop, however we kindly recommend you plan ahead and don’t leave the house without yours.

We are hoping to have a range of reusable face coverings for sale in the gift shop in the next week or so.

We appreciate you helping us to maintain a safe environment here at Green Dragon 💚

Reopening News

We were delighted to hear the recent Government announcement that some outdoor attractions such as us can reopen from Monday! This is an incredible U-turn on the previous news that we may have had to remain closed indefinitely.

We have been working towards the Government’s original roadmap of a July 4th opening, and this is still our current aim.

We’d love to be able to open on Monday, however it is slightly too short notice to make sure we are completely Covid safe. Whilst we have been closed we’ve been working with very few staff with little money and no income, so we just need a few weeks to make it ready for everyone.

However, in the meantime, from next week we will be able to offer hour-long family tours. You’ll be able to enjoy the Farm and our animals all to yourself! We’ll let you know how to book this later on.

We’ll be working hard on our strict plan of social distancing measures, guest Covid-19 signage, farm safety and rules, one-way systems, redesigned entrance and exit management, additional sanitising stations and routines, takeaway food and drink offers, and a fancy new online booking system, as all visitors will now have to pre-book.

We will be limiting the amount of visitors on site per half day visit and ensuring our staff are fully up to speed and briefed ready to meet you all. It is vital that our local authority and environmental health licensing teams are fully on board so we will be working closely with them as well.

We may well be ready before July 4th – we’ll let you know when we know!

We are most definitely not out of the woods just yet, but this phased opening will hopefully allow us to raise vital funds to help us implement all that is required to allow you all back to our beautiful farm and wildlife park in the very near future.

Thank you as always for your support during this time. We can’t wait to welcome you back! We’ll be in touch with booking details soon when our online booking system goes live! 😊

🐾 Donate anything from £5 on GoFundMe

Thank you all for your love and support through our closure so far. A number of you have expressed an interest in helping us financially, for which we are very grateful. We appreciate times are hard for everyone right now, but if you would like to contribute in some way, here is our donation page:
Thank you 💚

It is with great sadness to announce that we will be closing at 4pm today, Sunday 22nd March, for the foreseeable future.

We have worked hard implementing various measures to stay open for our community during these uncertain times. With 44 acres, we are well equipped for people to enjoy fresh air without being crowded. However this latest decision is after much careful consideration to further ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and animals.

We rely heavily on your support and this will be financially difficult for us as a business and for our staff. We of course hope to reopen as soon as is safe to do so. If you would like to continue to support us, details to donate will come soon. We have always offered gift vouchers, and we’ll be letting you know more about this soon too.

If there is anyone out there who feels they could offer us support, whether that be financially or with fresh fruit and veg. etc, we’d be grateful to hear from you.

If you have an upcoming booking, we will be in touch. Please bear with us however as admin staff will not be available every day. All JackFM vouchers are automatically extended by another 60 days, and we will review this in line with government advice at that time. Annual Passes will also be extended for the duration that we are closed.

Our dedicated livestock team will of course be onsite working as usual to deliver the best care to the animals. We will keep you updated with our animal news – little newborn lambs will surely help lift everyone’s spirits in the coming months.

Stay safe and keep in touch with us and we’ll hopefully see you all soon 💚

20/03/2020 PM

We are committed to providing an educational and outdoors experience in-line with recommended social distancing. With tonight’s announcement by the government in mind, we are adapting our offering. Therefore we will be taking the following measures:

▪️ We will be open 11am-4pm and continuing with our £5 admission offer on all days.
▪️ Access to the Soft Play will be closed.
▪️ The Café will be offering takeaway food only.
▪️ There will be no seating in the Café, we ask everyone to eat outside.
▪️ Queues to order food/drink will be controlled and food/drink will need to be collected from the designated collection point.
▪️ Pets Corner will be closed.
▪️ Attendance to encounters will be limited.
▪️ Queues at Reception will be managed, allowing one family group in at a time.
▪️ Visitor numbers in the shop will be monitored and kept to a minimum. Please be patient with us if you are asked to wait outside or pop back later.
▪️ We’re trying to keep cash handling to a minimum by using contactless payment wherever possible.

There is plenty of open air and open space and we will keep you as safe as possible, but please help us and everyone around you too. Do not visit if you are unwell, please maintain your distance from each other, and utilise the many hand washing and hand sanitising facilities provided to practise good hygiene.

We thank you for your continued support and we hope to welcome you to our beautiful green space soon 💚

20/03/2020 AM

We appreciate we are in uncertain and scary times right now. We understand there are mixed opinions on whether we should stay open or not.

After such a bad week weather-wise at February half-term, we were relying on our Easter event to help us recover financially.

Until we are forced to close, we will try to stay open. We need your business to help keep us afloat; there are staff to be paid and hundreds of animal mouths to be fed.

Please see our previous posts explaining various measures we have put in place to look after everyone, but we appreciate if you would rather stay at home.

Those of you wishing to be out-and-about in the fresh air, we will be welcoming owners with well-behaved dogs on leads for the foreseeable future, please acknowledge the signs onsite outlining the no-go indoor areas.

We need your help and support. We know that’s hard when everyone needs help and support. We have worked so hard, we would be devastated if we cannot continue moving forward.

We love and appreciate you all, thank you 💚

Green Dragon Eco Farm is currently open. The health, safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and animals remains our top priority.

We are continuing to maintain our additional measures and procedures for our staff and our visitors’ safeguarding and following all up-to-date advice.

We remind our visitors to do the same: regularly use the handwash facilities available, back-up with hand sanitiser, be mindful of social distancing, use contactless payments if possible, and of course follow current government guidance of self-isolation if you develop symptoms of Coronavirus.

It is important to note that our opening times are changing to 11am–4pm from today, Weds 18 March.

This will allow us extra time each day to carry out additional cleaning to maintain the highest possible standards of hygiene. Our website and Facebook are the most reliable source of opening hours information, please disregard any other websites/publications that say different for the time being.

Our Daily Encounters will continue for now; we will monitor attendance at these and if any changes are to be made, we will announce so on Facebook and on our website. We are a 44 acre site, so there is a lot of large outdoor spaces for you to explore and enjoy.

Queues will be managed appropriately and the Playbarn Café will remain open, we have moved some tables apart to allow for social distancing. All our food is available for you to take outside for eating. Remember there is additional seating outside the Café, in the covered picnic area, and Messy Play Barn. The Eco Café remains closed for now, however visitors are welcome to use the outside seating of the Eco Café by the duck pond.

Please note that After School Club is cancelled until further notice.

Please contact us if you have any concerns regarding an upcoming booking or event.

Every visit to us is crucial for the continued running of the Farm. We thank for your continued support, which will be even more valuable over the coming months.

Thank you,
The Green Dragon Eco Farm family
